Pool training sessions are held on a Sunday morning from 9am – 10.15am at the Geelong College Recreation Centre, Aphrasia St Newtown and on a Tuesday evening from 7pm – 8pm at Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre, Shell Road Ocean Grove. To enable swimmers to gain experience in a 50m pool, in the warmer months the Sunday sessions are moved to the Kardinia Aquatic Centre, Park Lane Sth Geelong.
Catering for a variety of ability levels these sessions cover general fitness and stroke correction, as well as open water and pool competition preparation. All sessions are under the guidance of Sue Gook, a Bronze Level Swimming Coach and Austswim Teacher with more than 25 years experience in the Aquatic industry.
Swimmers are more than welcome to come and try out the training sessions and can do this on three occasions before they will then be expected to join Aussi Masters and become a member of the Boroughcoutas Masters Club. The cost of attending training is $4.00 per session, plus the usual pool entry fee.
Swimmers need to bring a drink bottle, goggles, fins, and pull buoy to each session and it is highly recommended that they also purchase some paddles, but these are not compulsory. A swimming cap is compulsory at Geelong College.
All Sunday sessions are followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of Ted's beautiful fruit cake. This is a great time to catch up with old friends and make new and lasting friendships.
